Strengthening the Supply Chain

ALC Summit H

ALC Summit PicThe Australian Logistics Council is pleased to provide you a copy of Strengthening the Supply Chain; a newsletter about Chain of Responsibility and how it affects you and your business.

This edition of Strengthening the Supply Chain focuses on the upcoming ALC Supply Chain Safety & Compliance Summit at the Melbourne Park Function Centre on 17-18 August 2016. Chain of Responsibility is undergoing significant changes, making the Summit a must attend event for people who control or influence the movement of freight.

In 2016, Executive Officer Liability under Chain of Responsibility is being expanded to align with Workplace Health & Safety laws. Chain of Responsibility applies to all businesses that consign, pack, load or receive goods as part of their operations. As a result of the changes, you could be held legally liable for breaches of the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), even though you may have no direct role in driving or operating a heavy vehicle under the HVNL’s Chain of Responsibility.

Strengthening the Supply Chain discusses these changes, and previews how they will be the focus of presentations and workshops at the ALC Supply Chain Safety & Compliance Summit.

This newsletter and Summit reflect ALC’s commitment to provide organisations involved in the movement of freight with practical information on the important issues of supply chain safety and compliance.
